I was able to get a second HDD on the internal CD-Rom IDE cable as well as the internal CD-Rom being on the same Connection. I replaced the internal 40-Wire 1-connector IDE Cable with a 80-wire UATA cable and added the original 4GB to the 11GB that I replaced it with. They both hum along beatifully And the CD-Rom still works! The new Hard Drive (4GB) is loaded into the area where the Zip Drive used to be. I also replaced the CD-Rom with a CD-RW drive (Can't recall which model). Sadly, while the CD-RW is iTunes capable on a PC, it is not on the mac. Is there any patch I can use for it to support internal Burning? Otherwise, I will just use "Toast" which will suck when it comes to burning Music.... I will take Pics today to show you the layout

there is a patch for osx called dragonburn - or something like that. i do not have a direct link, but you can go to macsales.com (other world computing) and they have ways of getting it. or pm me and i can email it to you.
but if you are on os9, then you need a secondary burning prog. i use roxio toast 5.0 for my lite-on it cd-rw. when i did use osx, i loaded the dragonburn and it worked with discburner and itunes.

I put PatchBurn 3 on my system, but it doesn't fully support my Writer (HP 8100+ [plus]). Although it works with iTunes, I can't erase my RW's in Disk Utility (The machine is running OS X .3 ) Any help is appreciated. Thx for the offer, I PM'd you
below are the Pictures of the HD Shoe-horned into the Zip area. It is an "Extremely hard" job to do as there is only 1/16 of a cm. of space to do it in. and the cable is soooo strained. the HD is on the CD-Rom channel (Or IDE Chan 2).
this is the board with the cables fit in it. Like I said, it is a tight fit. I had to re-run the cables in the original area, which was a real pain, as the original 40-wire cables were longer than the ones I am using now. I left the SCSI cable in just in case. I had to peel electric tape off of the SCSI cable and the old IDE Cables to seperate them. I say it is worth it. I also notice that the old cables had heat damage. They had becomd reeeaalllyyy brittle and some of the plastic was starting to peel off of the wires.
This is the CD-RW i am having problems with. It is not supported by OS X (I have OS X .3 on the machine) and I would love to be able to erase the CD-RW's. I can use it with toast, but there is no fun with that is there?
Oh well, I will continue to work around and get the CD-RW to work.
Sorry about the Pictures not coming out sharp. I only have iPhoto to work with, and it is a Real PITA to do any editing with it...

Your'e doing some really nice work on that AIO, looks real nice inside. I would like to make a suggestion on CD-RWs try the lite-on CD-RWS they will work with patchburn and dragonburn. You can get Dragonburn from NTIs website. They are a little proud of it $39.95 but a really nice program works in OS 9 and OS X and the lite-on CD-RWs sell for about $39.00 at office max. I have two of them a DVD-CDRW and a CDR-CD-RW. one in each machine (B&W G3s)
i would like to add a comment about the Lite-on cd-rw drives. i have had one installed in both my B&W and my imac DV at one point in time and osx liked it both times. itunes would burn and everything. as we speak im running a lite-on DVD drive in my AIO. i know it wont play the DVD's but it boots panther install from the CD. i intend on getting a combo drive for it soon... basically i would stick with lite-on even if i didnt have a mac... ive had them for almost 4 years now. im just doing a happy rant now that atleast one of my macs work again....
Lite-On makes some really good drives. So good that SONY is putting their name on some of them! Yup, some SONY drives are "PHONY"! They're identical except for the faceplate, labels on the case and it says SONY in the firmware instead of Lite-On. There are several sites that tell which ones are the same between the two brands, and how to use the other's firmware.
I plan on getting a Pioneer DVR-110D combo drive for this beige G3 AIO. I am also putting a 100gig hdd in it. try to buy a sonnett G4 1000mhz cpu upgrade in it. Max the ram with pc100 clk2 sdram. and oc the bus from 66mhz to 70mhz if it works good that way. and a ati radion 9200 128mb pci video card in it already got a second monitor. A firewire/usb 2.0 combo pci card, duel boot OS 9.2.2 and OS X then i should be good to go in the beige AIO.
that would be one slammin AIO!!! let us know how it works out.... my question is though could i cheat and dissconect the internal monitor and sneak a lcd in there and run that off another video card?
yea you can if you can get the system to make the video card the default insted of the onboard video. it's just like the lcd mod in the Mac SE. it might auto select the default video output since the onboard video wont see a monitor. now that would be a very nice mod to do good luck on trying it. all the upgrade's are going to take alittle time cause i do have to save up money lol

If you're clever and want to put that much work into it, it wouldn't be that hard to rig up a Radeon 7000 or Radeon 9200 PCI card to drive the internal monitor... just messy.
Somebody out there has a wiring diagram for the internal bits, I'm sure, and then it'd just be a matter of soldering a nice long pigtail onto the video card and shielding it somehow.
