just installed ubuntu linux on my yikes! and it runs very well. i found a linux driver for the linksys wireless USB adapter 802.11b but i dont have a clue as to how to install it.. stinks because thats my only connection to the internet.. but where would i find more goodies for this OS? i love the way it looks and how its very smooth. boot time could be better but it never has any hangups and the screen savers it comes with are amazing!! i would truly love to learn mmore about this OS and experiment till i cant anymore. Thank you so much "MacTrash_1" for sending those cd's to me. i would never have taken the time to downloaded it to try it..

Have you tried Synaptic? (System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager) It's the built-in GUI package manager. Access is to over 17,000 packages in the Restricted, Universe and Multiverse repositories. Almost anything you need should be in there. If not, you'll likely find a functional replacement. Of course, you can install anything you want, but it likely won't have auto-update features or dependency tracking, which is a major nightmare on a fully custom setup without a package manager.
i havnt really messed with alot of it yet so it will take me some time to figure out the package manager. im hoping i can make it work with my linksys wireless adapter so i can get it online. if not then oh well.
