Using a zip file made on a XP machine

I'm trying to transfer the drivers for my nic to the mac performa 6400/200. The whole folder has various drivers for the encore nic and one for macos. Now it says in the read me inside the macos file that you just click the install icon and it will self install into the mac. It does not show a icon but still is compressed in a stuffit format *I assume !* I know nothing about a mac much less a stuffit format. I see my mac does have a stuffit program folder but when I open the folder that I uncompressed from a zip, it says the program is too large to be opened with blah blah blah. How do you take a zip file that was downloaded and uncompressed with winrar and make it useable in the mac. I only need the macos folder that contains the driver and text, so I assume the install is within that folder and was compressed with stuffit.

Thanks

Tom

Zip File

Hi, You did not mention what OS the 6400/ 200is using .
in any case, Do a GOOGLE Search for stuffit...
There are free versions which will open your file.

Thank you I did that and used

Thank you I did that and used it to unpack the driver folder. Unfortunately I get a error that the file is too large to be read by > whatever the reader is ! Inside this driver folder is a driver for many systems from windows to linux and MacOS and also OS x. Now I see the exe that you would use for a windows install but there is only one file there in the MacOS folder that needs to be used. I thnk it has it's on installer but it is gibberish and still in stuffit format. I tried for two hours and just about give up, not only that my monitor *Apple Multiple scan 15"* starts getting fuzzy around the text and hard to read. I think I'll put it in a closet and forget about it since I can't seem to make it do anything. The system is 7.5.3. I guess while I'm here I should ask can you use an adapter on the monitor should this one fail completely ? I have a good KDS 15 inch and would be great if it were useable.
Don't know what else to say about the driver install except I downloaded two sources and both just don't install. I don't think the floppy has to be in an apple format, stuffit is supposed to handle that once it goes over to the apple machine. I'll sleep on it for a while and maybe give it another few hours.

Thanks

stuffit

Tom, the reason your file says "the file is too large to be read by" > whatever the reader is , is most likely because you have not assigned / given the file enough memory to open the file...
Try this...
Highlight , or single click the MAIN Stuffit Icon.
Select File Get info
Memory
Give the Application MORE MEMORY if possible,
Restart and try again...
Just a thought and excuse me if this is redundant information.
I do not know what you do or do not know...
Regards,
David

Thanks Dave, the problem was

Thanks Dave, the problem was stuffit was routing the unpacking back to the source disk and an eof error would always appear. I changed the stuffit preference to put the unpacked to the applications folder.

Even after this I still had no luck starting the driver execution and always end with a error that the program can't find the extension type that the program was made with. The machine is just plain dumb and all the tools that one would need are buried where a non mac user could never find. I see now why the machine was retired seven years ago it is useless. The clock works great ! Back to the closet for this dinosaur.

Thanks
Tom
