DVI to ADC power

I was looking and looking around, and couldn't find it, so I thought I'd ask here... anyone know how much power the ADV to ADC adapter pushes out through its ADC port? I'm going to be hacking on getting this 17" CRT ADC display working with my powerbook, but was wondering if there'd be any way to get the power supply from this brick to work for me, or if I'll definitely need a new one...

Thanks in advance,
~ian

Its rated for 5 amps at 28V.

Its rated for 5 amps at 28V. Some systems only supply 25V. Look at the label on your power supply for an exact current limit since it varies a bit from model to model.

all i've got is the input ratings on the power adapter, and that ADC ports on PowerMacs (capable of driving the CRT) are rated thusly (25/28V, 5A depending on which technote I read). Sad

The label reads "100-240v, 1.5A, 50-60 Hz"

then again, I suppose that gives me a range of (from 100-240v), 150-360 watts, which would push, at 25v, 6-14.4 amps. For me here in 120v land, would come out to the potential for it to be pushing 7.2 amps.

Seeing as the ADC port is rated only at 5... it seems like the only reason this won't drive the CRT display is not power, but instead, merely the lack of analog video?

Your power supply doesn't wor

Your power supply doesn't work that way. On the label, it will say "25VDC 5Amps" or something like that for every output. You don't get more power than that regardless of the max rating of the supply.

at any rate, your monitor probably has power. Does the white light come on?

yeah. uh, Watts = Volts * Amps. and it only shows the input voltage on the DVI-ACD adapter. would you like a picture of the label?

and there's no power to the tube. there's power to the rest of it, i can change the settings, and it "sees" the display, but in other threads here and elsewhere, it seems the consensus for why the DVI-ADC adapter doesn't work with the CRT displays (aside from simply not being supported) is a combination of the lack of analog pass-through as well as not enough power (being that it was designed for the LCDs with much lower power drains).
