How to install a combo drive in a ibook g4 that currently has a cd-rom

I am having trouble with this topic all around. I am not sure the exact parts I need including: the type of drive, bracket, and how to actually install it. Any and all help on this subject would be wonderful.

Ouch. Well as long as you get a slot loading combo that is all you will need is the drive. you can use the existing hardwafre from the current drive.

iBook G4

Not all iBook G4's came with combo or super drives. Certain academic configurations came with cd-rom drives. Fortunately, as has been said by others, the hardware crosses over easily, flex cable, brackets and all. The biggest hassle (not much of one at all) is to get the bezel off of the old drive to mount it on the new one.

Well, let's see....

Hi,
Go to ifixit.com for a COMPLETE scan on how to disassemble the iBook.
If you aren't comfortable with that level of computer maintenance, you are GONNA have to have Apple (or a genius bar, or the "authorized" guys) do it for ya.
Oh, BTW the "spudger" tool they ask you to have....Bullshit ! Use a guitar pick. Medium is best.
