Hockey.

If most of you out there that have as much as a passive interest in hockey, then most of you know that the Calgary Flames have a decent shot at the Stanley cup.
A few of you might remember that I am a Calgarian.
After tonight's win anainst the Lightning (and after pretty much every game we've won, spare the series against Vancouver during which no one thought we'd win), the entire city is roaring, literally. Don't think I'll be able to sleep too well tonight for all the horns.

It's so great...

Congratulations- I really hop

Congratulations- I really hope Calgary wins the whole thing. It'd be nice to see the cup returned to Canada for the first time in a while. It's bad enough Dallas won one year- it'd be a travesty if a team from that haven of hockey *ahem* Florida, won.

At least you have something to celebrate, my Penguins have not been this close to the cup in about 8 years  I am going for the flames though, they are one of my favorites

I'll just disregard that Dall

I'll just disregard that Dallas remark. They deserved to win it, they made history by winning it (Darian Hatcher was the first Amercian-born team captain to accept the Cup), and they will win it again... sometime in the future... I don't know if I'll still be alive, but they'll win it... Wink

I do think it'll be cool for the Cup to return to Canada, though...

But I also want Sydor to get his name on there again...

All I know is last night was some damn good Hockey!

Cold steel on ice...

Great in person...TV doesn't do it justice. Even more fun on radio with the right play-by-play person.

My Chicago Blackhawks have had dismal teams for a couple of seasons now with no indication that anyone in the organ-I-zation cares enough to turn it around. There is some jealousy in watching Tampa Bay, built partly off the sweat from the backs of Phil and Tony Esposito (both former Blackhawks), contending for Stanley's Cup.

Thankfully, we have the Chicago Wolves, a well-run, fan friendly minor league team that has been competitive for the last several years.

People have a passion for hockey much like soccer. I lived in Champaign, Illinois and I was amazed at the level of interest people had in their minor league teams in towns like Danville, Springfield, and Peoria. Phenomenal fan support.

The Cup in Canada is special. Even better if it's one of the original six from Canada. None-the-less, Calgary has had a good team for the better part of the last decade so it's not surprising to see them contend repeatedly.

As a former fan of the for

As a former fan of the former Minnesota *NORTH* Stars, I'll disregard your disregarding (?) of my remark Wink Not that I'm bitter about them leaving Minnesota Wink
I'm probably just old fashioned, but I think hockey should only be played in places where outdoor water freezes in the winter.

i too believe that with out frozen lakes for at least one month a year there should be no team. as a wings fan i would have liked to see the cup goto one of the orignal six teams (for those of you who dont know what the original six are, get out of hockey) but calary would have been good. im just pissed that flordia won
