All good things come to an end...

Greetings!

As some of us may know, some games on Apple II were extremely difficult to play back then, even for hardcore gamers. However thanks to the save state feature of some Apple II emulators, it is now possible to finish those games and reveal their never-seen-before endings. So here are two memorable examples of hard-to-beat games, Zorro and The Goonies by Datasoft (1985).

Enjoy! Smile

Hello,

Many thanks for the great feedback from other fellow Apple II gamers. I have here some end images from two other similar Apple II games, Conan and Bruce Lee, also by Datasoft (1984). These two games were relatively less difficult and could be beaten back in those days. Still, they were pretty tough (and fun) to play.

My friend and I used to beat

My friend and I used to beat Bruce Lee. On the version I had for C-64 it would start up back at the beginning with full points and such, and the levels would be slightly different. I'm not sure if we beat it through a second time in a row, but we might have.

My 3 year old just had a fun time in my lap while I played the OS X version. I got 5 of the 7 Goonies. Woo!

How do they work and are they legal?

I've heard about these Apple IIe emulators. Can someone please tell me how they work, how I can obtain them as well as the games for the Apple IIe, and are they legal?

Thanks

Good old Apple II rainy days fun

The Zorro ending screenshot link is dead, so I'm putting it back on.
Here are some more nostalgic ending and near-ending screenshots.

P.S. The Zorro ending screenshot is back on-line (see above), so here's a new one, with the "LA CARCEL" (Jail) level just before the grand finale.

And while I'm at it, here are two more ending or near-ending screenshots of two favorite Apple II games :

Castle wolfenstein, 1981

Castle Wolfenstein

Ha! Back in '81 Castle Wolfenstein was the most impossible game and I only solved it once... thank goodness I had the Polaroid on step close by. So then the other night while cruising around YouTube I find a whole walk through of Beyond Castle Wolfenstein but not one for the original. Having not played it since 81 or 82 I was surprised how well the game play stands up today. However, I was able to solve it on the second play... Recorded the entire thing and posted it at http://www.apple2games.com/wiki/Castle_Wolfenstein

Edited up some bits like the 200+ seconds it took to open most chests.

Now if I could only find that old Polaroid Wink
