I bought a Mac Color Classic at a PC show and it came with a free LC 575 motherboard in a box. I got around to ordering the two 512k VRAM sticks and I put the board in the Classic. The Classic has Mac OS 8 on it I believe but it lacks a control strip, network control panels, and others. The odd thing is that the System info says "System 7.1" I guess the previous owner had fun with the Mac. I changed the system enabler and the Mac runs fine.
The only minor problem I have is I get some pixels on the screen that like to stay. This is hard to explain so bare with me, it seems like the CRT screen has dead pixels, but when I put the screensaver on everything goes back to normal, but when I move around windows or the mouse some pixels appear where something has moved. It is a bit annoying but I can live with it. Maybe I will try swapping the two VRAM sticks. Anyone know why this would happen?

Classic Specs if needed: 1mb VRAM, 4mb Built in, 80mb HD, Mac OS 8, Floppy, Ethernet :coolmac:
Definitely try swapping out the VRAM -- try 70ns VRAM if you currently have 80ns. It's a good start.

I tried switching the VRAM and it got a little bit better. I'm not gonna buy more VRAM, it doesn't bother me that much, plus I spent $12 on the two sticks of 80ns 512k VRAM, I'm not going to put anymore money into this machine except maybe some regular RAM.

It's always good to hear of a problem sorted - or half-sorted? I wonder if the Mystic had been clocked? 80ns VRAM should be OK at 33MHz.
