Dell OEM ORiNoCo card + 3400c + AP drivers?

I just picked up a sweet 3400c for a great price. I was able to get it online with a bit of help from http://www.alksoft.com and the links and files provided there. Thanks alk! I'd love to get it using the AP drivers, so I could use ClassicStumbler with it. It does use the same chipset, as it's a Dell TrueMobile 1150, 16-bit 5v PC Card, which is a Dell OEM of the regular Lucent Gold. I know there've been hacks to use the v6 Proxim/ORiNoCO drivers under 8.1, but is there a hack to use the card with the regular AP drivers under 8.6? I've installed AP 1.3.1, but it's a no go out of the box, unless I'm missing something. I can't get my Google search terms to filter out a bunch of crud about all sorts of AP hacks.

BTW: The 3400c is a 200MHz, with a 128MB RAM card (144MB total) and a 2GB drive. Just the floppy EBM, though. The battery can get 1.5-2 hours on a charge, so I think it's a durn fine deal. No one wants to know what I actually paid for it, though ax0n can probably make a very good guess... Wink

Lucky sonofa

Seriously the only luck I've had was with the IOXperts driver when trying to get old macs on WiFi. I don't know how classicstumbler will work with it, though.

It does work with the v7 ORio

It does work with the v7 ORiNoCo drivers linked from alksoft, but ClassicStumbler needs to go through the AP drivers. I've been thinking about it, and I may end up swapping in a 6GB drive and either loading Linux (Debian, probably) or a BSD flavor. That way I can use Kismet or the BSDairtools package. I'd really like to use MacOS, as it's fairly fast on this hardware, with a full GUI and all the power manement stuff works. And with all this RAM I run it with VM turned off, so I get a nice speed boost.

So far I can browse for at least a full 2hrs on a charge with the card in low powermode and the backlight turned down to minimum. Turning the backlight down increases run time by at least 30-45mins and it's still bright and clear enough to read well.
