G5 what? iMac? Power Mac? XServe?
Weren't all the G5s soldered down?
I'm pretty sure the single cpu motherboards are different from the duals, without the 2nd bus and all of that. (only 4 ram slots instead of 8, etc)
some singles had 8 and some duals had 4
Some boards have two cpu sockets, some don't. Remove the G5 cover from the heatsink of your G5, and you should be able to see whether the socket is there or not. IIRC, this slot is only present on boards with two banks of dimm slots.
I don't have one right now but I was asking If I where to buy one / parts on ebay if I can do it.
I would have to advise against building a G5 from parts bought from eBay. Unless you get some sweetheart deal, you are better off just going and buying one whole or buying a Mac Mini or iMac.
Bear in mind that the G5 is a dead end platform. If anything, the G5 towers and iMacs have less expandability than any other mac made within the last 6 years. If you want, I've got the bulk of the parts needed to build an iMac G5. I'm willing to sell them fairly cheap.
the mini sucks GMA 950 is week and I do not want a AIO
Refurb Mac Pro seems to be a good deal.
