emac and that jerk from owosso

i just joined ap today after doing a google search for macman comps in owosso and found this site.i am glad we did not buy it from him! steven does not sound like a good guy. we were to buy an emac from him and today when he called ( private number ) and told us that it was ready to be picked up. we told him about our car problems last night and he got really torqued and told us that he was now going to go to jail thanks to us and not to bother contacting him and such. we told him that right now it was not possible for us to buy it,, a 3rd comp that we dont need or fix the truck which we do need. it really got to me.
we bought an imac from him some time ago and have been very happy with it. thats why i sent him an email wondering if he had another comp that was reasonable in price. i hope he wasnt going to hook me up with a stolen comp!!!!!

Welcome, glad to have you.

...and told us that he was now going to go to jail thanks to us...

This is strange since the event of someone wanting to buy a computer and then changing their mind normally would not land one in jail under a stretch of the imagination.

As for whether or not the good you were to recieve were stolen or not, there is no way to be sure.

But who wants to deal with an angry/aggressive sales person even if the goods are legit?

The moral of the story is to avoid any and all dealings with MacMan Computers/Steve Landon. Hard to believe that after all he's done to tarnish his own reputation in the field of computer sales, he sticks with it.

update,,,,

that steven is a real work of art. he replied to my email ( nasty gram letting him know that i did not appreciate his harsh and threatening tone he had with my wife )informing me that he was going to sue me in small claims court for breach of contract lol bring it on steve! ive done some more digging on this fellow and discovered that he has swindled many computers from numerous people, and am wondering, how do i find out if this imac that we bought from him was legit? if this imac was stolen from someone, id like to find out from who. is it possible?

well...

if you call apple and let them know the SN, they might be able to tell you who it belonged to. let them know that you are trying to find the original owner, and you think the machine is stolen. I dunno if that works though, as I have never had to call apple and tell them that an apple system was stolen from me

Apple will not give out infor

Apple will not give out information over the phone on who owns a computer. If the OS was clean installed (Erase and Install) on the system, it would be re-registered to that person. Perhaps if one were to visit an Apple Store where they knew a Mac Genius, they might be able to find out the previous owner's name while having the product registered to themsleves. Just a thought...

I saw an Ad for an eMac in Owosso on Craiglist the other day. 700mhz unit for $200 didn't sound half bad, but there was only a phone # listed. Sorta prefer to know whom I'd dealing with first.
