Since I'm not sure whether it's kosher to link here in the forum, I've sent you a PM containing a link to the iPhone hacker's blog. Enjoy.
there was a law passed recently saying that carriers must unlock their phones if the customer requests it. Besides, we just want to talk about it, right?
if not, then sosumi.

Hey,
. . . but I ain't got an iPhone. A local kid in NYC did the hack and it's all over the news. And on NPR and on . . . whatever. Everybody is talking about it.

Also, it's a hardware hack AFAIK. There are more than one method, but the one I've read about uses the JTAG port.
THE NEWTON WILL NEVER DIE!!!!
digital, so your saying that if i dished out that kinda money for an iPhone i could use it on my t-mobile network?? i wonder how much of it would function the way its intended to....
I suggest that everyone read this:
http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/11/23/copyright-office-rules-that-consumers-can-legally-unlock-cellpho/
based on that, it looks like AT&T/Apple have no right to sick their legal hounds on the folks offering this hack. But, it looks like they did, and they have delayed the unlock indefinantly.
