What's the price for a Titanium nowdays?

I'm not sure what auctions you're seeing, but run-of-the-mill auctions give a very good idea of current pricing. The usual eBay caveats apply of course: if it's too good to be true, it probably ain't, buy only from vendor with lots of good feedback, etc.

If yer willing to put something together from parts, you can get more for your money. For example I've been eBuying TiBooks lately for under $500, typically 550/667s and better. Broken screens, broken hinges, just plain rough, etc. If repairs done yerself, you can save a few hundred over buying something mint. The most desirable TiBooks (DVI models in nice shape) still regularly sell for over a grand, so the savings can be substantial.

Also be sure to check the specials/refurbs at the Apple store, link from main store page is at lower left, a big red "Save" tag. An iBook G4 12" 800 for $750 looks like damn good value to me, ditto for a $999 12" 867 AlBook.

I really like the 12" form-factor 'Books BTW, the 15" DVI TiBook on which I'm typing now is clumsy and huge compared to my 12" G3 iBooks. For a desktop the 15"ers are OK, but for the ol' lap the 12"ers rule!

Check out MacResq--www.macresq.com. Just last night I was cruising the site and they a huge selection of TiBooks, Snow iBooks, etc.--very reasonably priced. Worth a look!!

Both very reputable, and will have prices that'll beat most any others you can find on the 'net. I've bought several machines & parts (for myself, for friends, and for clients) through both places, and they are top notch. Mac of All Trades is a bit nicer in that they will accept credit cards and offer a warranty option, but if you don't mind waiting a bit, Baucom works well with money orders and is generally the lower-priced of the two.

I just took a peek, and Baucom has 867MHz 15" TiBooks with Combo drives for $885. Not bad.

Oops. I guess I assumed it was a 15". Pays to read the whole description.
