to anyone considering an sli-dual monitor setup

simply put it doesnt work. you have to disable sli every time you want information to be send to display #2. i am pretty peeved over this because nobody has ever mentioned it to me before and i just bought a second card to use sli. seems stupid to me that you have to loose estate for added performance. rumors of Nvidia fixing this with new gpu's surfaced 2 years ago and yet nothing has been done. anyone wanna buy an 8800gts?

Video cards suck

What's even more annoying is the 2048x2048 OpenGL texture size limit that ATI video cards have. It rules out being able to run Beryl/Compiz 3D desktops on any reasonable Dual-head configuration. (If you're dual-heading monitors smaller then 1280x1024 you *probably* need some professional counseling, and chances are really good you'll be putting those two monitors side by side rather then one over the other.)

No spinny-cube desktops for me anytime soon. Gripegripegripe.

i run dual 19" crt's @ 1600 x

i run dual 19" crt's @ 1600 x 1200, so you can imagine i have alot open most of the time. sad part is i havnt noticed that much of a difference running sli over a single card! there is about a 15fps boost in crysis but it still seems sluggish to me? i dunno maybe i expected too much or my mobo cant handle it.

i take back what i said about

i take back what i said about not seeing a performance increase. i tried crysis one more time without sli and in the begining i was seeing 20-40 fps. i turned on sli again and i was seeing 40-60 fps in the same section. apparently when i turn off v-sync i get some numbers in the 100 range! i guess i can live with one screen... ill just upgrade to a 22+ later down the road.

SLI, in almost every case, is a waste of money. You're better off buying a faster video card like the 9800GTX or even the 8800GTX.

i originally got this card for around 220, i just got the 2nd one for 119 after rebates on newegg. i couldnt pass it up and i really wanted to try SLI. now that i know some of the things to expect from it, you are correct in saying i should go with one 8800 ultra/gtx over 2 of these but that wasnt an option back when i got the first card.
