I'M HAVING TROUBLE HOLDING CHARGE USING 24V 2.475AMPS FOR IBOOK 14.1", ADVICE PLEASE

Typing in all-caps forces your computer to use more energy, as it must energize the little LED on the caps lock key. (Or, alternatively, if you're simply holding down the shift key while hitting other keys additional power will be diverted through the second closed contact on the keyboard matrix.) Try typing in mixed case and see if you get a better answer to your question.

P.S. The short real-answer is you should be able to use any Apple power adapter with a rating as high or higher then the one included with your computer. (Using a lower amperage adapter can cause the adapter to overheat and fail.) Your battery is probably dying.
