I have recently become a college student. I have a laptop, a Compaq Presario F700 but what I really want is a Mac. The battery in the Presario is completely inadequate, and I hate windows. I left my cube at home because I am living in a dorm, so a laptop is a must.
Maybe my question is as obvious as anyone's-- Macbook white or aluminum?
To be honest, I thought about jumping on the netbook bandwagon, but after seeing how expensive they can be for a decently equipped one, I started thinking about just springing for a fullsize laptop- a Macbook. Perfectly portable with greatly increased battery life.
So my thought is, I am going to spend around $1000 anywhere- why not a mac?
Let me know what you think,
Thomas
I've got a feeling leaving the cube behind was more about the fact that it's near stone-age material already. How about a new Mac Mini for the dorm that you can lock away in a drawer when you're out and a cheap PC laptop or old used Mac laptop that won't be such a great loss if it gets lost or stolen? Lost or stolen is an important thing to think about in college, and every night you'll be backing up what's on the laptop onto your Mini.
Both the white MacBook and the 13" MacBook Pro should serve most of your needs well. The Pro offers a slight performance edge and longer battery life, but the battery in the white MacBook is easily swapped while on the go. If I was buying one for myself, I'd go with the Pro, but that's just because the unibody aluminum chassis is really nice.
I went with the Pro, and got a black speck case for it. It is way off the cool chart.
Thanks guys!
i had that black speck case on my new macbook pro for 3 weeks and i took it off and it got dirt in it and scratched the sides up pretty bad.I would recommend cleaning it about once a week or so
