Bondi iMac, repair info needed to fix shutdown problem (power supply PCB?)

This iMac here does not shutdown all the way. No, it is not a PRAM or CUDA / reset issue. I believe there is a faulty part in the unit preventing the green light on the monitor from not turning off when the machine is shut down. This also causes the monitor to not come on, unless the unit is unplugged momentarily.

My belief is it is being caused by a faulty relay somewhere, possibly in the power supply. Does anyone have any information to confirm this suspicion? If so, what is the suspected part? I could only find *ONE* relay in the entire machine, which is located right next to the main fuse on the power supply PCB. Am I overlooking something? Does anyone know if this is the relay that could be causing the problem?

Any technical information related to this issue is much appreciated. Thanks.

well...

I don't know if this helps much, but my iMac(Bondi monitor components/power supply, 333MHz everything else) sometimes refuses to shut down from OSX Puma- it'll get to the part when it should switch off, but restarts. My local AppleCentre tech support guy said it's just Puma not being happy with all the mismatched parts composing my iMac... what OS are you using?

You like your Macintosh more than me, don't you, Dave? Dave? Can you hear me, Dave...?

Do you have the latest firmwa

Do you have the latest firmware update installed? Are you sure the PRAM battery is alive? Video issues are very strange when the firmware is bad, and bad firmware can also cause trouble in all sorts of strange ways.

I have the same problem!!!!!!

I have the same problem!!!!!!! I need heeeeeeeeeelp!!!!!

Everything that the original poster posted is true about mine too - I power it on, and when I shut it down, the power light doesn't go off until I unplug it. I can't use the monitor until I unplug it.

I've been searching for a long time for a fixer for this, and it's not written in the Apple Service Manual.

I spent $14 on a battery, and it didn't work at all.

Please help...someone...anyone?

Ian
