Ok. So I need to change that rectangular cap in the II plus supply that smoked.
Before I go any further does anyone have a replacement part number. This is the cap near the back of the supply that looks like a domino on its side. I can read its .1 mf, but before I take the rest of the supply apart I wanted to have a spare part so I can simply change it.
The only thing I can find in google is someone else with the same problem on a European supply. I'm hoping someone has the number for the US supply and where I can buy the part without a $25 minimum. I assume its a $2 or less part.
Thanks,
Corey.
Hello Corey986,
with "back side" isn´t clear if you are talking about
the rearside close to the switch
or the rearside close to the end where the cable runs to the powerplug
aiming to the mainboard (i.e. the side close to the keyboard ) ?
If you can read the mark on the board it would be very good...
capacitors are marked on board as Cxx

From what I know, usually capacitors are rated at microfarads and not millifarads.
And are sure that you only need to replace one part to fix it? Something blew the capacitor. Do you know what it was?
If the answer is not forthcoming, you might end up blowing the new one not long after you install it.
It's like working with fuses.
It is a microfarad. Just can't make the "symbol" with my iPhone.
As for the capacitor, I just think it was old. They dry up and go. I'll try to take the board out later this week and get a spec/part #.
Meanwhile I put a spare supply in and finished testing the machine for a few days burn in and it's good.
Cheers,
Corey

Well that's a new book I haven't seen before. Thanks !!!
It's C1, the .1 250v capacitor.

Hello Corey,
that one is only listed without partno. - at Jameco a fitting one should be:

It's a metallized cap, so that one won't work, but I got 25 off of eBay for about 6.50 total with shipping so I'll have some spares.
Cheers,
Corey
