Gaming on a mac

I would like to start out by saying that I am a avid gamer. I realized that buying a mac book pro is not ideal for a gamer. I am aware however that you can emulate a windows computer on a mac. I have tried virtual box but it did not do a very good job. none of the games I had such as mine craft would actually run on the virtual machine. It was also very laggy and did not always work properly. I will right now say that I do have a file with the windows 7 os. If anyone knows of a good windows 7 emulator that can play games well please notify me.

For gaming no emulator will do, you need full access to the video hardware. Your best (only) bet is Boot camp, and install Windows 7 to boot directly.

YMMV but I have had success with some older games and Wine on OS X. Keep in mind that Wine is not always straight forward. You can find test results for a given game and instructions to make it work here: http://appdb.winehq.org/

I think I used this tutorial to install Wine with Macports: http://www.davidbaumgold.com/tutorials/wine-mac/macports.html

I've had great success with Sacred Gold and the Divinity games.

EDIT: Javster's suggestion is obviously the one to have highest level of success.

Also, and I don't know exactly what you're tastes are, I stumbled across this today:

Indie dev who releases games in Universal Binary format. Pretty cool.

That's worth noting, too. A lot of indie and Steam content is now available for OS X and Linux. In fact, the OP specifically mentions Minecraft which is available natively for OS X so I have no idea why there'd be a desire to run it emulated.
