There's a lot of documentation online for restoring our vintage computer cases and interior components, but there seems to be nothing for restoring cables on keyboard, mice, etc.
Some of my older cables are slowly becoming brittle and less flexible, and I'm worried they could eventually crack.
Anyone found a solution?
You might try researching vinyl reconditioning products for automotive use.

I would cut the cable in half and resolder the connections and use heat shrink tubing to reinforce the cable.
One of the cables at issue is for my recently acquired Atari XE game system. I could build a new cable, but so far I've been able to restore the machine as stock and would prefer to maintain it that way.
jt, I've looked into some of the popular automotive vinyl creams and sprays, and there's mixed opinions on their effectiveness. Some give the impression of restoration, without actually offering any long-term benefits. Those containing silicone can be detrimental to the surface, reacting with heat and actually causing damage. But the research continues...
