Compact Flash for Apple II?

Hey everybody. I am wondering which of the compact flash cards which are out there will work in either a II or II+...

I see that ReactiveMicro had a card but it looks to me that it will only work (based on their descriptions) on a IIe or IIgs:

http://www.reactivemicro.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_23&products_id=32

I know there is also the CFFA card out there but would that work in a II or II+?? Trying to save wear and tear on floppies and speed up loading/execution of (to be honest) games.

So am I dreaming here or would I be able to run old game software from this (assuming it is compatible)...

InThanksAdvance (Thanks in advance) Smile

You're not dreaming. I recommend the card that Rich Dreher produces (is he still?). His support is unrivaled. I think that as long as you aren't trying to do anything with copy protected software, or software that depends on DOS 3.2 or 3.3 you should be alright to run the software. This means that if it works with ProDOS8 it will work with the card. (I think that people have even been making DOS3.3 partitions, but I'm not sure). With ProDOS8 you can have four, 8MB partitions for an equivalent of a 32MB harddrive.

I bought Two of the CFFA3000 cards from Run #3...

The CFFA3000 doesn't support Protected Images, ( see bottom of this page ), but there are many games that have been unprotected, so chances are you can find Games that will run from it..

You can Download the Manual and Firmware for the CFFA3000, and read about the features, before you order.

On page 6 of the Manual, There are Three Modes for the CFFA3000, 1) Apple II, II+, IIe, 2) Apple IIgs, and 3) Apple ///.

I would also recommend getting a USB Extension Cable, so that the USB Drive can be plugged in, outside of the Case, and get the Remote Control Board, so that you can switch Virtual Disk without going to the Control Panel..

Rich is preparing for Run #4, to be delivered in NOV-2015.

I believe you thinking of the Limits of the older CFFA Cards.. With the CFFA3000, you can have as many 32MB Hard Drive Images as the CF or USB can Hold.
