Hello everyone,
I recently got an Apple IIGS, AND a 4MB ram upgrade plus a Micro/Turbo Drive. The drive came with GS 6 on it, but theres no things under the menu bar, such as calculator, or the notepad I keep hearing about, or on screen keyboard, or puzzle. Does anyone know how I can get these?
Thanks!
Hi Johnny,
The calculator and notepad that you refer to are normally located under the Apple menu (click on the Apple logo to open).
These types of programs are referred to as NDA applications and can be run cooperatively with other applications (they "steal" some CPU cycles).
If they are not present under your Apple menu, you may need to re-run the GSOS installation script (I can't recall what option would toggle these to install or not though).
BTW: if you are not running version 6.0.1 (or higher) then I would recommend that you update.
Cheers,
Mike
Hi Mike,
Yes, under the apple menu, there are no options (Besides the normal help, about this IIGS, and the other thing).
I got the GS 6 from the Micro/Turbo drive, and did not install it. Ill contact the guys over at Ultimate Apple 2to see what they think.
Do you have any idea, if for some reason I can't re run the install script, I could just download them somehow? Or maybe Ill just download the GS 6.02 or .03 (The newest versions) just to give it a fresh boot.
Great news Mike,
I found this old thread, and the good old what is the IIGS site has them for download!

Glad you found a simple solution to your issue.
