Unusual Apple II Europlus - clone?

Not sure if anyone has caught this, as it is on eBay Australia: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Apple-II-Europlus-vintage-computer/222010096662

The price is a little high for me so I initially ignored it, but on second glance it looks really unusual. Note the keyboard including numeric pad, and the odd inset area on the case. In fact the case looks like a genuine Apple example at first glance but clearly is not.

Logic board definitely looks like a clone, with clone power supply (AT?)

It's just a clone with a Europlus badge glued to the cover.

The motherboard looks really dodgy - wet or greasy or something.

Looks like a IIe clone. I have a IIe clone motherboard that looks the same. Bit pricey.

I thinks it been in a damp spot as the connectors are rusty at the back, looks like it's had some wd40 sprayed on the motherboard.

Thought as much, yeah I don't think I could see myself paying $500 for a working ][+ let alone one that has been sitting out in the garden for 30 odd years. That's what it looks like to me, like it was reclaimed by the backyard and rediscovered in 2016.

Re: Unusual Apple II Europlus - clone?

I too am in Oz. This is a clone, the only Apple product is the sticker, everything else is a clone and it looks like rubbish. I emailed the seller, he did nothing so I reported the item to ebay.
But, it is still listed as a genuine Apple computer.
If a few of us reported the item to ebay then ebay might do something, otherwise there might be a very unhappy buyer.
If you are bothered by this mis-representation then please report the item to ebay. (item 222028499713)

Re: Unusual Apple II Europlus - clone?

The problem to claim at ebay for violation of ebayrules is that these bastards have
eliminated normal communication and that the pages for report are that stupid that
the guys at fleabay are too stupid to figure out why the claim has been really made....
of course it´s a violation if someone offers as Apple II europlus
and inside there is a fucking illegal taiwanese IIe clone Mainboard....
but this won´t bother ebay a single breath if they just get their damned fees....

its like in every other business - the "new future":
Send the stupid user to the more stupid help pages or useless hotlines and don´t waste time talking with users...
users are only welcome as stupid paying "fee - cows"......

This looks like the same machine for sale again? Now in Canada.

Re: Unusual Apple II Europlus - clone?

Well spotted, it's exactly the same. On reflection it would be a good pickup just for parts - but not at the price the original Australian seller was asking.

The Badge is fake too Smile

The CA Clone seems to be in better nick than the AU one. May be worth a shot for the CA guys.

Re: Unusual Apple II Europlus - clone?

I think it's the same one. If you look at the pics in the link in the first post in this thread, the eBay pics will commeup. it has a sticker on the back with Boronia Rd, Boronia. This is a Melbourne Aus suburb. The new listing has the same sticker!

Sadly, I think someone got a bad deal when it originally sold.

Re: Unusual Apple II Europlus - clone?

Unfortunately such people exist everywhere.

The seller did put up reasonable photo's that allowed you to work out it wasn't real... however they did themselves no favour trying to pass it off as an Apple II, especially when informed by others including myself that it was a clone.

Re: Unusual Apple II Europlus - clone?

Of course traitors act in ebay all over the world....

of course all over the world there are sellers,
that you may call "resistent against advice".....

in most part of the world such guys are called "ignorant"...

but this kind of language displayed above.....
sounds to me like revival of "yelling smalltalk in a cockney pub
of the 18th century behind the docks....." or it
reminds me a bit to Charles Bukowski.... LOL

of course I'm familiar with the habit "downunder" to
spend "after work" as much time as possible at the shore
with a grill and a can of "maltsoup".... but to live
with that kind of attitude in communication that guy must
have been raised beginning with "prenatal drunk mom"
and continued the behaviour all along school education.....

in US they call such guys "red necks"...
sigh....

at least its kind of "apocalyptic preview to future with
facebook/twitter Generation kind of communication....."
i believe i can't side with it....
LOL
