sdisk II boards/kits for sale

At some point last year, I decided to build one of these.
http://tulip-house.ddo.jp/DIGITAL/SDISK2/english.html

It works well! It does not have the niceties of some of the other projects, where you can see the disk image on an LCD or switch them up and down with a button. These things could be added to the firmware, as the software is very simple, and the hard part (emulating the drive) is already done!

I ended up having 10 boards made, since that is the minimum.
I thought I had the rest of the parts covered, except the SD-card slot is unusual- it's mirrored, so that is the most expensive part (not bad).
So I have plenty of parts left over and thought maybe some other fellow tinkerers would like to make one.

I have 9 bare boards left- $5.00 each.
Shipping only costs a stamp to the USA, and probably a couple bucks overseas.

I have enough of all the other parts for 2 complete kits.
(*out of stock, you can still buy kit without SD slot for $21.50 and get slot from Digi-Key)
These would be $25 each and I will pre-program the Atmel microcontroller for you.
Shipping is still probably a stamp in the USA and a couple bucks overseas.

I built and tested 2 of them, so I am offering one of them completely built and tested for $50.

Once they are gone, they are gone forever.
Let me know if you want one or have any questions.

Re: sdisk II boards/kits for sale

I am currently out of full kits, as I ran out of the SD card slots.

If there is demand, I can buy some more, or you can buy a kit without it and get one from Digi-Key.

I still have boards.

Still have a couple of boards left if anyone is interested in building an inexpensive disk II emulator.

Re: sdisk II boards/kits for sale

BTW, it's in my build notes, but to let everyone know that bought boards:

The SD card slot is unusual- you won't find them on eBay (or at least I couldn't).
The Digi-Key part number is HR846CT-ND

OK good luck and check the build notes, especially the cable build pictures.

Re: sdisk II boards/kits for sale

Hi guys,

I ran out of these boards. If there is more interest, I would consider doing a second run of kits. Let me know and I'll be happy to take preorders and get all the parts again.

BTW, here is the link for the more advanced firmware for the board. These mods add a display, controls to change the disk images on the fly, and support for SDHC cards.

I think I might have bought

I think I might have bought your last two on ebay.I decided not to build them so if anyone wants one the you can have one for cost of postage.

I started laying out my own board that uses an LCD display to allow the selection of the disk image rather than be limited to a single image on the SD card.I've added support for both a nokia 5110 lcd (J3) and the common 1602 lcd module. So far I haven't worked out the correct placement for the 5110 lcd mounting holes so it may not be in the final boards.

Disk II Emulator Designs

I've been working with several Disk II emulator designs.

First I built up the Nishida Radio design, using PCBs made from the original Gerbers. These worked just great, booting, reading/writing files to the disk image.

I then did a breadboard build-up of the modified LCD readout design from the Github-Suaide site. This would boot images and read files just fine. The LCD and three push buttons worked as described.

However, it would not do any write operations to the disk image (including: Save, Lock, Unlock, etc.). In fact, write attempts would frequently trash the disk image on the SD card, to the point that the image would not load on the Applewin emulator too.

I know that writing to the SD card works because it seems to update the SDISK II.CFG file on use. The .hex file from Github was used for the firmware burn (didn't attempt to recompile the C source).

Disk II writing seems simple enough with only two logic lines (Write- pin 18 and Write_Request- pin 10) involved.

I would appreciate any feedback from anyone working with these. Has anyone had any problems writing images with the Suaide-LCD design?
