Do you mean SSI?
Steven
Sorry what's SSI?
I believe you are looking for Blitzkrieg from Programma. It was released in 1979 or 1980.
Have you tried this file? ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple_II/images/games/action/blitzkrieg.dsk
More information here as well: https://archive.org/details/a2_Blitzkrieg_1979_Programma_Software

But, I guess Jennifer was spot on.

Thanks so much. That is the same file I previously tried but it doesn't work unfortunately. When I try that file at Asimov, and write it to a new disk using ADTPro, there appears to be an error when booting the disk. The drive makes a soft buzzing sound 10 or 11 times then reports:
Any ideas what that means or where a working version might be?
Edit: Have also tried all the versions at http://www.oldgamesfinder.com/?m=33&q=Blitzkrieg. They all seem to be the same disk image with the problem.
Have you tried:
www.virtualapple.org/apple2/blitzkrieg.zip
Jennifer
ps: This is a really old game - anybody know if it requires Integer? That might be part of the problem, but I am just guessing.
Works perfectly: http://mirrors.apple2.org.za/ftp.apple.asimov.net/images/games/file_based/Blitzkrieg,%20Photar,%20Nightcrawler,%20Sabotage,%20Sneakers.dsk
Thanks George! I'd love a version on its own disk, for nostalgia purposes. I have fond memories of buying the original game with my dad from the local independent Apple reseller in London. Needless to say, it was the only game on the disk.
Jennifer, I get a 404 error for your link http://www.virtualapple.org/apple2/blitzkrieg.zip
You can delete the remaining games and make this one the default starting game on the disk.
This is the 1979 version, it works, I verified it through AppleWin and a Platinum //e.
ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.com/pub/apple_II/images/games/action/blitzkrieg.dsk
In the course of reading the docs:
ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.com/pub/apple_II/documentation/games/misc/blitzkrieg-docs.txt
..there seems to be a version that lets you modify some game parameters. I would assume, it loads the binary and then pokes some different values in via a small menu program before running the game. Anyone ever see this version?
Hmm, try going here:
http://www.virtualapple.org/blitzkriegdisk.html
The download is in a box on the right hand side, the only thing I can think is that the "B" in blitzkrieg.zip is cap'd.
Hope you find it - I didn't recall the name but once I saw it I do remember it as well!
Jennifer
Thanks everyone. The Asimov version definitely doesn't work on a real Apple //e and gives the above error, however I'm happy with the version on the compilation disk and can amend to make it the game that boots.
So I'm all set! Thanks again! Fun game and great sounds for 1979!
The asimov disk works on a real //e. Played it this morning.
Weird,I get the above error.
Using non apple disk drives...?
No sir, original disk ][ devices. It's not a big deal, just an odd thing.
Maybe this works for an enhanced //e but not for an unenhanced one.
When I had my first iie many years ago there was a game called, "Randamn" and it did not work with the enhanced roms.
Nonsense, the game was programmed during the apple ][+ era when //e didn't exist...If you were not lazy to switch between a drop down menu of AppleWin choosing a different apple you would have known that it works on all Apples. I've seen non-apple half-size disk drives that are much better designed than Apple ones...
Bump
Still looking for the original disk, even the box .Thanks!
