Looks like someone is starting to image and share IIgs software in WOZ format. I reached out to the Floppy Emu author, as of now the 3.5" emulated drive can't use them. He said in theory it's possible. But he's currently focusing on another project. Hopefully now that the images are rolling out he will eventually support them. But for now, no go.
I'm not sure if wDrive has support for WOZ on 3.5. But given this is the first I'm seeing the images, I'd be surprised if it does.
As good as the Applesauce device is, I simply can't see the need for .woz images on un-protected software.
.po disk images of 800K diskettes are perfectly good and almost every device out there supports them.
And that's likely why BMOW is giving low priority to supporting .woz
There is no copy protection on 3.5" IIgs disks? That is sort of surprising. As far as I can tell Copy II+ has 3.5 bit copy profiles for IIgs software. If they weren't copy protected, I'm not sure why you would need them then.
While a life long A2 user, I am admittedly fairly new to the IIgs. So I don't claim to know everything (or much) about it. But a lack of copy protection just seems kind of odd.
There were some copy protected 3.5” disks. In the day I swapped someone a regular 3.5” drive for a 3.5” Unidisk. He said that some copy protected software wouldn’t run on it. Still copy protection wasn’t a common thing like it was on 5.25” disks
