How to prepare a CF card to work with my CFFA3000

Folks, as another topic about the CFFA3000 just started, I immediately remember that I'm still lacking to get a CF card prepared to work with my CFFA3000 (latest version)

What I've done so far is:

- formatting the card using FAT16   (done using Win 7)

- made it bootable using diskpart     (done using Win 7)

- using ciderpress to copy diskimages to the CF card

Regardless what I'm doing, my card doesn't boot. Is there a good and handy description (not the user manual) what needs to be done for daft people like me ?

I'm using an Apple //e

CFFA3000 Card is placed in slot 6 while the duodisk controller is in slot 5. There is a uthernet card in slot 7

You don't need to use

You don't need to use Diskpart to make the CF card bootable.  You just need to format it to FAT-16

I presume that you put some (bootable) disk images on the card, used the utility program (pressing the "M" key as soon as you hear the startup beep) and assigning that disk image to Slot 6, Drive 1?

Well... I think I found the problem...

I didn't upload 140KB Diskimages... I tried to upload 32MB partitions... as I did using my working SDIICard solution (from @freitz ) in another Apple //e.

These partitions are working using the SDIICard but it seems to be that they are not working using the CFFA card.

If this is the problem... how to solve this issue ?

The "u" or "c" prefix for a CFFA image file indicates that the image is coming from the USB drive or the CF memory card.  You must pre-assign an image file for the USB thumb drive and the CF memory card if you want them both available for selection.

The CFFA configuration is versatile.  It allows one to boot from a CFFA hard drive ( SmartPort ) or from a ProDOS image or from a 140K Disk II image.  You must select which one boots in the CFFA menu settings.  The CFFA can emulate a CFFA hard disk and/or Disk II drive(s).  For the CFFA to have access to both drive types there must be two unused Apple II slots, one for the CFFA to boot from and a 2nd for Disk II emulation.   If only one drive type is required then only one empty slot for the CFFA is needed.  (I prefer using my CFFA card boothing from assigned images on slot 6 and emulating Disk II drives in slot 5.  The CFFA card is in slot 6 and slot 5 must be empty for Disk II emulation assignment.)

I suggest you use the CFFA User Manual version 1.3 for information and guidance for use with the Apple II family of computers.

Not sure why the PDF file isn't uploading or appears not to from my perspective.
