powermac 7600 issues

I got a powermac 7600 that was presumed dead, but I found that it does not boot when the cd is on the same scsi bus as the hard disk. now that it boots, i have some problems:
1) sometimes programs randomly quit.
2) browsing the certain folders on the hard drive causes the finder to quit.
3) the video app will not run. it says that I need video hardware and the video extension.
Any ideas as to what could be wrong? I put the hard drive from my 6100 in it, and the 6100 worked perfectly. Also, is the 7600 really an upgrade over the 6100?
the specs:
7600
3 gig HDD
12x CD
80 Mb RAM
stock video
132 Mhz

6100
3 gig HDD
2x CD
72 Mb RAM
stock video
66 Mhz
thanks muchly

6100/7600

Nuke and pave. The differences between a 6100 and a 7200 are too tedious to list. Yes, it is an upgrade but not if you take the hard drive out of a 6100 and stick it in a 7600 and expect glorious results. Wipe the drive and reinstall everything. You'll see the difference.

isnt the 7600 a 603 processor

ok, scratch my previous post. Little bit of research goes a long ways. The 7600 will be close to twice as fast as the 6100. The 7600 has a 604 (I had thought it had a 603 for a few moments, which is why i deleted my first post Wink ) so it should be quite a bit faster.

Re: isnt the 7600 a 603 processor

Not only is it a 604, as you know, but you've got 3 PCI card slots, and 8 RAM slots. It is also G3-upgradeable...you can buy G3 daughter cards(to replace the 604 card) on the LEM swaplist for $25-50.

I did reinstall the system so

I did reinstall the system software and I copied over my apps. I copied everything from the 6100's disk onto another disk, formatted, copied over the apps and necssesary files, and installed system 8.6. I can't reinstall most of my apps because most of them are from floppies that are no longer working.
