airport casrd in slot load imac-antenna?

ok, i just made a custom imac, i bought a 500 mhz slotload board for cheap, did some imac atx hacks, and it worksgreat!i was wondering though, if the imac is not in its originall case, and its literally just the logic board if i put a airport carrd in it, will it work? is there a built in antenna in the imac that i dont have anymore?

should i just buy a usb wireless network adaptor?
thanks

btw im running OSX 10.3.5

Yes an airport card will work

Yes an airport card will work. Yes you don't have an antenna anymore. Will have to get one that works with lucent orinoco cards. Or see if you can find one on e-bay.

USB vs. AP

USB doesn't have a very good rep on Macs, apparently not very reliable connections.

As for AP, you can use any Lucent wavelan-based PC card in the AP adapter, not just a puka AP card. Plus a regular PC card will have an antenna builtin, though I'm not sure how much signal would get through if the antenna resides inside a case. Might have to run an external anyway.

Antenna cables ought to be pretty common nowadays, I'm sure the case from which your LB was extracted had a antenna/cable, prob got trashed with the rest of the case.

I'm posting this from my TiBook equipped with taped-on external clamshell iBook antennae. :coolmac:
