Hard Drive Upgrade Imac rev E Temperature opinions

I am planing on putting a 7200 RPM drive in my imac. I understand that temperature is a concern. without the addition of fans would one of the liquid baring ultra quiet genre drives be perfectly safe in this machine.

Thanks

Heat is heat, so it doesn't r

Heat is heat, so it doesn't really matter what type of drive you put in there, it's sandwiched between other components and as a result, it's going to take and give off a good amount of heat.

If you need a bigger drive or a faster one and want it to live it's life to the fullest, I would suggest installing it in a desktop Mac. The iMac will most likely reduce it's life span.

You can add nice nice slow and quiet fan and dramtically improve the cooling of the iMac. ANY sort of forced air moement is going to really help, and it will also get the air moving long before the designed in convection cooling would take effect. A quiet fan (I used a 20dBa in my slotloader) will be much quieter than nearly any harddrive, so you'd never notice.
