alternating characters | 301.19 KB |
Hello everyone, I am new here and am getting desperate. I have a fully assembled Apple-1 with no additional capacitors or optimizations.
I haven't finished the "original" keyboard yet. I use the PS2 adapter or via VT100 with the Arduino/PIO adapter. With both adapters I get alternating characters on some keys. For example, with the key 2 (20202020...) or with the key . (.,.,.,.,.) I can't explain where this comes from. Basically, I have already changed everything. A friend of mine also has an Apple-1 with a similar configuration to mine and it works. Everything is also " default " at first.
Does anyone have any ideas?

How long is your keyboard cable? I have seen weird stuff like this on longer keyboard cables with the Apple-1
As i said, i use the PS2 Adapter (Normal PS2 Keyboard) or the Arduino/PIA Adapter (USB->PC->Tera Term VT100). The Same problem !
I'm referencing the cable from the adapter to the Apple-1. How long is that cable?
OK i will check this later afternoon.
But why i have the same problmen with the Arduino/PIA adapter (USB-VT100) ?

Maybe I don't understand what you are saying.
Can you post a picture of each setup?
Look at my Pictures. On both options, PS2 or the USB Adapter i got the same results on the screen. 202020202 if i press the Key "2".

OK, I see what you mean about the short cable, we can rule that out. Before we dig deeper, have you tried a different 6821/6820? Have you tried a simple plastic one?
