Apple iie keyboard, motherboard compatibility

Guys,

Do you know if you can use an older apple iie motherboard from the beige case to replace the motherboard on the platinum case iie? The motherboards are different. The keyboard, as you already know, includes a numeric keypad. If I hook all of that up, is there any danger of ruining the new motherboard or the keyboard?

it "should", but you'll need to swap the keyboard rom.

Strange... The part number is the same, The only difference is the letter at the end. B for the older one and D for the newer one.

One letter makes so much of a difference?

the keyboard rom contains the keyboard map (which key hit produces which character) platinum //e keyboard has different layout than the beige //e. feel free to leave it in, it'll cause mismatching key/char input.

Well, I just tried it. I can't find any problems. No mismatching characters.

Thanks.
