Apple Imagewriter I

Hi all,

I noticed that when I print with my ImageWriter(not a Imagewriter II for clarity), when it reaches the end character of a line it kind of trails off. Basically, I believe the paper starts moving up before the final character gets fully printed. Essentially the character ends up warped and partially on to the next line.

Has anyone seen this before, and do you have any suggestions? I can provide additional details if needed.

Hi all,

Hi all,

Another issue I have is when printing from certain programs. ProTerm works fine, but AppleWorks 5 and Printshop both throw a System Error 1, which to my understanding is a ProDos error for a no existant Subroutine?

This essentially causes everything to lockup and restart is required. Anybody know a good way to go ahead with troubleshooting?

Problem solved. In case

Problem solved. In case anyone runs into this issue in the future. One word: interupts.

ProTerm requires interrupts to work properly. The printer does not. I tried to get cute and have both on one SSC with a serial switch.

Long story short, when I switched the interrupts off on the SSC, no printer trouble.

My solution is now to have two serial cards. One set up for modem use, one set up for printer use. I guess that makes the most sense anyway.

i also have a mouse card in the system. Not sure if it’s related, that too uses interrupts.

Soft switches

Can this be set up using soft switches to solve the interrupt issue?

To disable interrupts before

To disable interrupts before printing, and enable them again after? I'm not sure how that works exactly.

Appendix B (Page 27 in the manual)

Appendix B (Page 27 in the Sep. Serial manual) explains all the soft switches available, but I didn't see interrupt listed.

I will look tonight to see if this switch option (SW2-6) is a part of the soft switch options.
