No, I don't think that is correct. As far as I understand it, all versions of the Lisa had the same audio capabilities (similar to other "business class computers" of the time like the IBM PC), which generated a programmable pitch on a single channel, output only. The sound is produced from an internal speaker and there are no audio interface jacks. There was a rare option card called the "LisaDAC" that emulated the audio capabilities of a Macintosh for use with the MacWorks environment.

Note that the Lisa was still under development for 18 months after that was written. In the more recent September 7 1982 version of the Lisa Hardware Manual, the description of digital audio I/O was removed.
