Disk ][ Interface replica / PCB

Hi,

I'm new here :) I just revived my first Apple II+ ( a clone) after a lot of diagnostics and tinkering. But now it works! I can boot to AppleSoft and load and save tapes, but I would really like to expand it's capabilities - especially in the line of adding floppydisk support. I see a lot of options to emulate disks once you have a disk interface card, but I don't have one and since I live in Europe listing from Ebay and similar sites quickly become quite expensive. The controller itself doesn't look to contain any hard to come by components, so I was wondering if anyone here has or know of gerber files so I can build a replica ?

If you live in Europe, you

If you live in Europe, you can get a Disk ][ Controller clone much cheaper than it would cost you to build one yourself: https://www.ebay.com/itm/316076575076

The seller is a member here, I have bought stuff from him in the past and I know for sure that he tests his hardware.

Thank you! I've trawled ebay, but this one apparently eluded me. I've ordered one now :)

Thank you Macintosh_nik :)

Excellent! That was exactly what I was looking for - I've ordered one from ebay now, but I'm still quite tempted to build one myself. I'll have a closer look at it

I’ve been hesitant to build

I’ve been hesitant to build one myself due to the costs and complexity. This clone seems like a much better option

That's a cool project.  I've seen it before but since I have several Disk II cards, both genuine and clone, I never gave it a thought,  but now that I'm looking at it again, I think I'll build that project.

SmartDisk II

For a few bucks more in BOM cost, Brad's SmartDisk II project will also add SmartPort capabilities so you can use something like a SmartPortSD or Fujinet in addition to regular Disk II drives (although not at the same time).

I've built one myself and works great in my IIe.
