Found an old Apple II clone - Banana

Hey all,

I was at a place where the guy was clearing out an old workshop and picked up an old II+, but he also had a clone there. It was called a Banana haha. I searched for it and the only one that came up was the one from this site. I took a couple of pics of it, will upload them in a bit when I transfer them to my computer. Is it a rare clone? He was keeping it for himself, but I told him if he ever wanted to get rid of it to let me know. I thought it was pretty cool. I took a pic of the case front and back and one of the inside. I will upload them later. Anyone have some thoughts on it?

Thanks

Chris

I don't know that I would use

I don't know that I would use the word "rare" but they are uncommon.  I remember in the big Apple Users Group that I was a member of back in the early 1980s there were a couple of people who had Banana branded clones (and others like Peach, Orange, Pineapple, etc).  Many of the clones were built by the same companies over in Tiawan or Hong Kong but imported and sold under various brands here.  A lot of them shared common parts although there were also a lot of variations, often even within different times of the same brand name.  So individual models and configurations could be probably considered pretty rare I suppose.  These things were super common in the ][+ era, 1979-1982.  Towards the end of this time Apple really started to get serious about trying to get clones off the market and using customs, etc., to shut down the import.  The later time a lot of them were imported in parts and then assembled by clone shops which often sold them as "white label" or under their own brand names.
