After being disappointed with the performance of a similar card that that was being sold, combined with the fact that the licensing for that project had several restrictions, I decided to spend a couple hours with KiCad and draw it from scratch myself. The result is a reduced chip count, and IMO, a better layout in a similar size.
Thank you to Brad Bell for allowing me to pilfer most of his GraphicPlus design, and to MFA2 WorkShop for permitting use of a modified version of his softSP DIY 6a ROM. Both authors are credited on this design, and a copy of all required software licenses are provided in the documentation. This card will operate in any slot, and jumper JP1 allows for the disk controller card to be located in either slot 5 or slot 6 without any end user code modifications.
This is the pilot run of the card. I will have these (and a bunch of other Apple ][ items) available for demonstration at the Southeast Michigan Vintage Computer Club (Waterford, MI) event on April 6, and the The Indy Classic Computer and Video Game Expo (Indianapolis) on April 13 and 14.
Nice! Looks like a nice and easy to build card.
Neat!I'm on the west side of MI, if you're ever this way. I'll ponder coming down for that event as well.
In need of a SoftSP card for some Fujinet testing.
Thanks
Because of individuals that don't follow either the language or the intent of the Creative Commons non-commercial deed, I have not made my PCB design publically available. My card has been throughly tested by several FujiNet users. Send me a message if you need more information.
