Mac Mini-Din to DB9 cable

I have been searching everywhere and cant find an answer.  I have a Performa 575 and a PC running sheepshaver.  i would like sheep shaver to talk to usb serial cable on the host and then connect the other end to my performa.  what cable do i need?  can i just use a mini-din9 to db9 cable?  thanks

It depends what you want to do; if you planned to create a LocalTalk segment to use file sharing, that isn't compatible with USB-Serial adapters.

You could probably get a connection between two terminal programs (like White Knight or ZTerm) running on the respective machines, but that would be very limited in file transfer capabilities. Mac files need to be encoded (like with BinHex or MacBinary) to be transfered from one computer to another via terminal emulators.

AppleTalk Remote Access is a possibility for creating a network bridge over a serial line.

As far as the wiring goes, you would have to build the cable yourself. The serial cables that were made for 68K Macs were designed to connect to modems (usually DB25) or to printers. They rarely used DE9 connectors. The cable needs to be wired as a "null-modem", which means that receive and transmit pins are exchanged.
