Just checking I am not making an error, can I use MM5290-N chips in place of the 4116 chips. I have some dodgy memory and want to swap it out.

Hello Atomtan,
After a quick look at the datasheets, it seems to be okay (same pinout).
But you don't mention one important thing : the access time. You should have something like -2 written after the reference.
It have to be 250ns or faster chips. -2 means 200ns, -3 300ns and so on.
