Testing Applemouse interface card

I just bought an Applemouse interface card off eBay for a good price.  Untested, but looks ok.  Good seller.  Will there be a way for me to test if the card is good before I "invest" in a mouse, which aren't cheap these days?

Thx.

Or possibly buy the adapter

Or possibly buy the adapter to use a modern USB mouse with that card.

.
You could write or find some code that enables vertical blanking interrupts through the mouse firmware. That would probably be enough to confirm that the on-board CPU, ROM, and timers are working correctly.

There is a cool new program

There is a cool new program called Card Cat, which will not only identify a whole bunch of known cards, but also let you view their ROM.

The download link is at the bottom of the page: https://henrylowe.net/card-cat/

This is what you should be seeing:

I didn’t find out about this program until version 1.8 was already out. I contacted Henry and explained to him how the card could be identified, however not having a firmware means if he adds it, there is a chance of other cards being misidentified as ESP32 SoftCards. So it’s his decision if he wants to add it or not, considering that adding it can make his program less reliable. It doesn’t really matter either way, since I don’t think anyone who has it will have trouble visually identifying it. :)

Speaking of the ESP32 SoftCard, once you receive yours, you will be able to test your mouse card. There is an undesired effect when the mouse is not plugged in to the card that I like to call “ghost mouse motion”. Simply type the MOUSE command and you will see it if the card is working properly.

Haha!  One person's

Haha!  One person's undesireable effect is another person's "feature"...
