Does anyone know the origin and purpose of the two-digit stickers found on the back of some NTI boards?

The stickers often only remained at mainboaeds that have been sold as "blank Board"
from reseller to cutomer and removed during production at Apple before wave-soldering.

They could also be QC stickers from the wave soldering process. There are no known blank boards sold and I don't think the stickers would have survived the wave soldering process.
My guess is most were peeled off before the product shipped depending on who actually did the shipping (i.e. Jobs vs Apple). After a certain point they were out of the garage and in actual offices while still shipping the Apple-1. Based upon personality, Jobs, I expect would have removed them and so might others.
OK, thanks for the info. Since there are some duplicate numbers I assumed they have no real significance.
Hello Corey,
you have less distance to WOZ...
is far as i remember back to the 80's Woz
confirmed 1 or 2 NTI boards to be sold blank to
Univresities for "special services" ( geological earthquake and volcano survielance )

I think they were un-stuffed, not blank. Woz said he can’t remember any blanks being sold.
