I went to boot a spare IIgs and found that the aluminum power supply had stopped working. I was getting 3v out of 2 connections and less than 1 volt out of the other 2. I opened it up and was surprised to find a wrong power supply inside. A Tiger PS and except for 1 screw it was siliconed in. Probably came out of a II+ clone. Since the original PS is gone I guess I’ll put in a better replacement. I’ll likely use a Rel-70-4004 I have on hand. It’s a medical PS that puts out all the right voltages.

I would go with one from ReActive Micro or a Mean Well PT-65B with an added LM7905 for the -5V. There is a thread on here about the Mean Well swap.
Does the REL-70-4004 fit inside the original power supply's aluminum case? If so, that's a pretty good drop-in. Mind you, it doesn't seem easy to buy from the usual electronics purveyors.
The dimensions I find for it are 2.5″ x 4.5″ x 1.2″ which I think will fit. The biggest issue I see is that it's over $100 anywhere I see it. That's more than the ReActive Micro board which is probably an easier swap since the kit is designed for the Apple II.
The REL PS fits easily inside a regular IIgs PS case. I acquired a couple last year to see if I could squeeze one into a Vulcan PS. I did but I found a different one to be slightly easier.
So having a REL PS on hand, it seems like the way to go.
