manual battery condition

my lombard battery is no doubt junk but first i just thought id see if there were ways of getting the system to display the right ammount of time remaining. as of right now it will stay in the 90%'s then just drop like a rock. i already went ahead and tore the cover off the battery and im discharging it with an 80 mm fan. i think somthing is just telling the system its dead when it may not be... there seems to be some ammount of amperage left in the pack after the system shows being dead. you think it will kill it more then it already is by killing it down flat? either way im going to buy a new one. just a little experimenting...

Battery Reset 2.0

Your Lambrod supports Battery Reset 2.0, why not give that a try first. I'd not hold out too much hope though, the symptoms you describe are consistant with one or more failed cells.

much to my suprise, ive gotte

much to my suprise, ive gotten so far almost an hour of solid game play with it since it was flattened and recharged. 77% left. before it would never go down in percentages, it would just die. ive done multiple reboots with os9 and X, while os9 seems to be a little harder on cpu while im not doing anything, X shows 30 min or so extra run time vs 9. i wish it wasnt 3 am so i could stay awake longer just to see how long it goes... its bad enough i woke back up at 2 just to check it in the first place. Biggrin

testing batteries

Use a battery utility to record the discharge progress, that way you don't have to stay up past your 3AM bedtime while doing the discharge testing. Under OS 10 I use X-charge, which can be found here. There are other utils available though, so try a few . . .

Under OS 9 I've used the venerable BatteryAmnesia by Jeremy Kezeer. It's supposed to be just for nimh and nicad, but it works fine as util to run down lion batteries as well.

well i went from a 25 min run

well i went from a 25 min runtime to around 2 1/2 hours. but i discharged it too much the second time (manually) i did it and now it wont charge all the way up but still works for a long time. lithiums are very picky about being killed too far down. i think i was better off with just the one time i did it first so the system read the remaining time correctly. i bet i caused the actually death of this battery by doing that. which is a bummer but i had planned to buy a new one anyways.
