I've used a solvent welder (Ambroid Proweld - available at Tower Hobbies) to repair similar damage. When I had all the pieces I've completely rebuilt very badly smashed case parts. Proweld has helped me out of more jams than I can count.

If the underlying plastic is so brittle, the repair usually won't hold up for long as it'll break somewhere else before you know it. Still, it's worth trying, you might find the repaired part is good enough.
