moving ipod files back into a lost Itunes Library...Possible?

I had to do a recovery on my hard drive and in the process lost Itunes and my library. Now that I have re-installed Itunes I want to transfer my Ipod contents (Playlists) back into my Iunes Library so I can listen while on the computer. Problem is that so far I can't figure out if it's possible. I have tried dragging my playlists back...it won't let me, I can't copy and paste apparently and I can't do it by putting them all into an All in One NEW playlist and dragging them over.....that is if I have done all these proceedures correctly. So, if there's a way I haven't tried OR if I may have done somthing wrong, I sure could use the help. I miss not having my library on the computer where it's nice to mix and match content for listening and Burning......HELP
A step by step for this idiot would be a BIG help.

It's not the best for copying your entire library back (doesn't copy ratings and other stuff stored in the library file), but if you want access to the files for any other purpose, it's great, so I thought I'd mention it.

Any thoughts? I used that program and spent a while importing eachof the nearly 200 songs after getting your reply. Today, I opened Itunes and guess what...not only are they gone again(apparently) but also, 18 songs I bought for download afterwards. I went back to the program with the intent of doing it all over again, only now I get a message saying they are in a file form that can't be downloaded. I even let the computer do a repair on the Itunes program just in case IT was screwed up. All those files are in a directory with no way to get them home. What HOGWASH!

Which program was that? iPodDisk? I've never had a problem with it...

You would need to make sure that itunes is set to copy music to the iTunes music folder (otherwise it won't work if you don't have the iPod connected and iPodDisk running).
