Mac Mini and 2GB RAM DIMM compatibility

I've found some PC3200 2GB RAM on ZipZoomFly that might work on a Mini. Does anyone with more experience with faster RAM know if it might work with a Mini? If 2GB modules can work on a Mini, I'll probably hold off on buying a 1GB module in the future to get a 2GB later. I know Apple only rates the Mini to 1GB, but my Mini shipped with a 512MB PC200 DIMM anyway, so PC3200 RAM of official capacities does work fine.

In my experience, DDR RAM wil

In my experience, DDR RAM will downclock just fine in most cases. Occasionally you'll run into a weird (or cheap) DIMM that won't work with a slower motherboard, but if you stick with quality name-brand RAM, you should be fine. I'd be more concerned with the Mac mini's maximum RAM capacity than the ability to use PC3200 in it.

nope

mac mini DOES work with pc3200, but WILL NOT accept any more than 1GB... the 2GB sticks DO NOT work. also, when buying ram... DO NOT buy the Kingston Value Ram... i bought a PC2700 KVR 1GB stick, and it caused nothing but kernel panics, until i bought a PC3200 1GB stick.

I guess it wasn't so clear in

I guess it wasn't so clear in my OP, but I was asking about the 2Gb possibility, and not really about the speed. My Mini shipped stock with a PC3200 DIMM, as reported by ASP. The Mini is supposed to only run it at PC2700 speed, but the actual speed is still shown. I've wondered if the stealth upgraded Minis actually support running the RAM faster, or if the 1.25/1.42 Minis also report the faster RAM in ASP even if it is down clocked.

evilrobot: Have you known anyone to try a 2GB module, or are you going by Apple published specs? The main reason I'm interested is because many of the specs for my Mini are different from the official "sticker" specs.

yup...

OK... i Initally posted theese links in standard HTML, which has worked a bunch of times before... but now it doesnt... so you will have to copy + paste. Ålso, the up-specced Minis still have the same motherboard, just slightly faster Chips, and twice the VRAM soldered to the board. My 1.42GHZ mini reports its memory module as being a PC3200, because it is a PC3200 module... but it doesnt use it any "Faster" than a 2700... ive just found 3200 RAM to be made to a better Spec and not cause as many problems with OS X.

Now, about the 2GB sticks...

MacWorld tried it. And wrote a pretty nice article about it. Heres the link:

you can also find a few people who have tried it in :
