It may be "possible," but may not be supported or legal. It's one of those situations where, if it boots and doesn't give you an error, it'll probably work. Otherwide it might boot mostly to the installer, and then complain about the machine type. It's usually best to get a universal install disk.
MacOS 10.2 or earlier, probably. It's better to just buy a store version, though.
I wouldn't use machine specific disks that are built for a newer machine on an older machine.
