iTunes artwork without the Apple Store

Is it possible to add album artwork to my playlist. My whole list has come from my personal cd collection. None has been downloaded from the Apple store.

Is there a simple way to add album art to the playlist as simple as it was to "get cd track names"?

Thanks.

There's various programs that

There's various programs that do this, and one that I use is Sing That iTune!. It gets lyrics and artwork. It's certainly not perfect, but it works well enough for me.

Doesn't this widget display the artwork in its own space not in the artwork placeholder in iTunes.

In other words I don't want to run Dashboard to see the artwork. I want iTunes open and when I click on each song the appropriate album artwork displays.

Thanks.

Yes. . and no.

I don't know about the specific widget mentioned, as there are several that will retrieve artwork and lyrics for iTunes. The one that I use for artwork will seek out the album front cover artwork, display it in it's seperate (from iTunes) window, then you select a tab to indicate whether or not the widget should place it in the appropriate spot in iTunes for you. Once you've done that, then it is in iTune's catalog, independent of the widget program. If you don't like the artwork for some reason, like it isn't the art you were expecting, the program can search the web again for a different one.

I have a progam that does this for song lyrics too, but unfortunately there has been some sort of conflict about posting these on the web, and the widgets don't seem to work anymore.

STI! can save both the image

STI! can save both the image and the lyrics into iTunes. it also lets you edit the lyics in the widget if needed. I don't think there is a way to change where it goes to look for cover images, though, and the site it uses doesn't have all of the rather modern covers I think it should. For example, it found the cover image for Shakira's "Oral Fixation vol. 2" but not the one for "Fixacion Oral vol. 1". YMMV depending on how esoteric your listening is.
