AppleShare IP

In a previous thread, it was mentioned to forget about AppleShare IP... at least for controling the internet access.

Now that I have my network set up right with my DSL and computers, I need to introduce a twist to the setup.

I have a few Epson printers. I have a surplus of network cards for Epson printers. After installing these, I now have Epson printers I can put on my network. I have already installed the approopriate drivers and such on my Mac clone which runs AppleShare IP. My thinking is that I could use this to control the queues for these printers.

So before I get started in this...
- Anyone ever done this exact thing before?
- Am I right to use AppleShare to control printer queues?
- Are there any special things I need to consider to put these printers on the network?

--To answer the side questions, I have about three printers I would like to put on the network, each serving a purpose (as each printer is a different model and class) and in a discrete location. I am not hooking them up just because I have them (well maybe I am with the one-but it is a 900G and has the blue and white to match my iBook... and it is fast)

TIA

I've used appleshare IP's pri

I've used appleshare IP's print server before. It's really intended for non network printers. If the printers can be on the network by themselves, just use them that way (unless you are trying to control access to them). Otherwise, put an ethernet card in the server and put all the printers on a dedicated network.
