I am trying to set-up my new e-mail service with Verizon and I keep getting a SMTP Error. The tech at Verizon thinks that my firewall is blocking the SMTP. I remember talking to a Apple Care tech and using terminal to activate my G4's firewall.
So I want to turn it off to see if this solves the problem.
How do I turn off the firewall in terminal?

System Pref -> Sharing -> Firwall
You can turn certain ports on and off. I'd recommend only doing the specific ones they want, rather than turn off the whole firewall. The point of a firewall is to block everything except want you specifically want to get through.
